How To Revive That Old Couch

Hello Pretties!

Raise your hand if you took that free couch? I mean how can you say no to free?? We have all been there in that boat in the newlywed stage of life. We didn’t care what it looked like because we desperately need it! This couch has been in my family for probably 15 years. My parents bought this couch when I was in Jr. High and when my husband and I got married they decided to get new furniture, so we swooped in and gladly took it off their hands, so that way we could have a place to sit in at our apartment.

So here we are 5 years later and two houses later and I still can’t get rid of this couch! I just can’t get myself to buy a new one. I decided that it was WAY cheaper to pay $60 bucks to have someone come steam clean it. And let me tell ya, steam cleaning it got stains off those cushions from 1999 that we thought were never coming off. It even took out a cat smell from it being stored, so  I highly suggest it, it’s a miracle worker. I usually get it cleaned about every 6 months when I get my carpets cleaned. Sometimes I can get away with going longer, but with those little kid sticky fingers it’s hard to keep it clean.

The second tip to helping that old couch look fabulous, is to basically cover it up with pillows! I have a pillow addiction, it’s kinda scary but I just can’t help myself when I see a cute pillow I just have to have it! Plus it’s way cheaper to buy pillows than a new couch, I purchased my pillows from all over, I have one from IKEA, two from TJMAXX and the cute “Hello” one is from HOBBY LOBBY. I also love having a cozy soft blanket. I got this one from Minky Couture and I highly suggest it. I even threw one out to replace it with this one because I became that in love with this blanket. I hope you enjoyed this little Home decor Hump day! xoxo pretties.
