A Special Gift for Him

dsc06781

Hello Pretties!!

Today I have been so excited for this post to go up. I have teamed up with JORD  wood watches because these watches just scream my husband. I was really hesitant with these watches and wanted to give you my honest feed back so my husband has been wearing his for a few weeks now and we have been LOVING it. I swear everywhere we go so many people are asking about this watch, and we have been super impressed.

I have talked my cute husband into writting what he truly, honestly feels about this watch and here is what he said:

Anybody who knows me knows that I don’t like to draw attention to myself. After wearing this watch though, it didn’t take 5 minutes before I was around showing everyone in the office my sweet new watch. First off, the watch is extremely light. It makes my old fitbit feel like carrying around a box of shotgun shells on my wrist. Second, this watch can tell time. As a traveling salesman walked through my neighborhood and asked me what time it was, I confidently swung my wrist directly in front of my nostrils as I told him the pinpoint accurate time of day I gathered by reading my awesome watch. Next, nothing says manly like something made out of wood. I feel I should be accompanying my watch with a mahagony hand carved beard comb. I personally dig the zebrawood/maple combination. It looks like the watch was meticulously chiseled away and hand planed to the perfect shape and thickness. I like to imagine Nick Offerman staring down his mustache as he checks for perfect edges after creating such a masterpiece. Granted, Nick Offerman has nothing to do with this, but my imagination is allowed to roll with it! There is one downside to the watch:  my 4-yr old thinks the watch only has 1’s to tell time, so it’s constantly 1:11. Luckily I can count by fives, so I don’t have the same worry.

Being natural wood, I was a bit concerned about the watch exposure to weather. When I wear a watch, I like to wear it everywhere. The only places I have not taken my watch (and I probably won’t) are duck hunting in the marsh and in the shower. I would never shower with my fitbit anyway, so that wasn’t a concern. I’m also not too concerned with not taking it duck hunting, though I’m almost convinced the ducks would want to come in closer to get a look at my sweet watch.

Since this is natural wood, I’m just careful when washing my hands and make sure it isn’t exposed to extreme temperatures for a lengthy period. Jord suggests specifically leaving the watch in your car on a hot day or leaving it outside in freezing temps. I haven’t gotten to test it yet, but I don’t foresee a problem in normal wear outside while shoveling the driveway. The suggested maintenance for the watch is to occasionally re-apply a natural tung oil just to keep the appearance of the wood up to par and the wood well-conditions. Wood moves naturally with changes in temperature and moisture, so the goal is to keep the wood healthy. This would be the same with any other often used wood item like a cutting board.

Overall, 5 stars from me, two thumbs up. I can only imagine how manly I’ll look wearing this watch while running my jack plane over a long piece of birdseye maple.

Well there you have it as you can tell this is a great gift for your cute honey, father or brother. I really wanted to get this post up today because they have some killer black friday sales going on today and you can view that here. I think that this is a great must have gift that’s so great and I love how it’s something so different and not they typical watch. Also be sure to check out the contest we have going on here!

I hope you have the best black friday today! I love that the holiday season is upon us.

Candice.
